Rip Curl Cup Padang Padang 2026 Expands Environmental Commitment Through Continued Partnership With Sungai Watch
Every Official Merchandise Purchase Helps Protect Indonesia’s Rivers and Oceans
Rip Curl Indonesia has expanded its environmental commitment by renewing its partnership with Sungai Watch for the 2026 Rip Curl Cup Padang Padang. For the second consecutive year, every purchase from the official event merchandise collection will fund the removal of 1kg of plastic waste from Indonesia's rivers.
With every purchase from the official Rip Curl Cup Padang Padang 2026 Merchandise Collection, 1kg of trash will be removed from Indonesia's rivers through a donation supporting Sungai Watch's mission to stop plastic pollution before it reaches the ocean, this done through a donation to support Sungai Watch's mission to stop plastic pollution before it reaches the ocean. Every purchase becomes more than a keepsakeit becomes a direct contribution to cleaner rivers and healthier oceans.
The partnership between Rip Curl and Sungai Watch extends beyond fundraising. Together, the two organizations have already installed two Sungai Watch river barriers in Bali located in Ilalang Sempidi and Pengubengan. Since installation, they have prevented more than 1.7 tonnes (1,788kg) of waste from entering the ocean., preventing plastic and debris from flowing downstream into the ocean. The initiative reflects Rip Curl's commitment to creating measurable environmental impact while supporting long-term solutions to plastic pollution.

Founded in Bali in 2020 by Gary, Kelly and Sam Bencheghib, Sungai Watch has grown into a team of more than 180 river warriors working daily to stop plastic pollution before it reaches the ocean through innovative river barriers, waste collection and community education.The collaboration first began during the Rip Curl Cup Padang Padang 2025 and continues to reflect a shared commitment to protecting the environment that gives surfing its home.
