Rip Curl Cup Opening Ceremony This Sunday, July 1st in Bali

The world’s best tube riders are ready to gather at Bali’s most hallowed wave on Sunday, July 1st for the Rip Curl Cup Opening Ceremony. All are welcome to attend the traditional festivities at Padang Padang to bless the event with good waves and pray for the safety of the competing athletes.

Among the international surf stars receiving one of the coveted Rip Curl Cup invites are Mason Ho (HAW), Jack Freestone (AUS), Damien Hobgood (USA), Gearoid McDaid (IRL), Bruno Santos (BRA) and Jack Robinson (AUS). Among the eight Indonesian surfers invited are defending champion Mega Semadhi, 2X Indonesian National Champion and 2X Rip Curl Cup Champ Lee Wilson, and 2014 champ Garut Widiarta.The Rip Curl Cup Opening Ceremony marks the start of the one-month event holding period. The celebration will begin promptly at 3 PM, followed by a meet and greet with the surfers and contest organizers. Padang Beach CleanupJoin Rip Curl surfers and crew for a beach cleanup at Padang Padang Beach on Friday, June 29th at 8 AM. The cleanup is open to anyone who would like to volunteer. Cleanup teams will collect trash from the beach, the car park, and the valley behind the beach. Trash bags and plastic gloves will be provided. Wear shoes and clothes you don't mind getting dirty.
