It was a big night for Rip Curl, with The Search taking home the “Best Series of the Year” Award at the 2018 Surfer Poll.
It was a successful event for Surfer Mag, a busy evening for Turtle Bay, and a memorable night for Rip Curl. Champagne was popped, awards winners were called and at the end of it all, Rip Curl and our sponsored surfers walked away with three of the infamous bronze statues.
Rip Curl’s The Search won the category for “Best Series”, led by the exploration of 3x World Champion Mick Fanning and his partner on the road, a man who many call the most entertaining personality in surfing, Mason Ho.
"Rip Curl has always been on The Search" - Neil Ridgway, Group Marketing Chairman.
“Everyone on the team is at some stage. But Mick Fanning and Mason Ho have spent parts of the past year getting into it and we are planning for more adventure next year, really looking for some untapped juice around the world.” We thanks Surfer magazine and the surfers who voted for recognising that.
”But that wasn’t all that SURFER Poll had in store. Bethany Hamilton and Alana Blanchard, who have both been Rip Curl surfers since childhood, also took home awards from Turtle Bay last night. Bethany won the Best Performance award, and Alana snagged the coveted #1 spot on the SURFER Poll.
“Through thick and thin and it’s been a pleasure to watch both Bethany and Alana grow as surfers,” continued Neil. “And now, to support them as they move into family life. We’re very happy for them to be recognised for their hard work and dedication to surfing and the beach life.”It was a night to remember for Rip Curl, Mick, Mason, Bethany and Alana. Congratulations to all involved.
