Crosby Colapinto Receives Wildcard into the Freshwater Pro

18-year-old Crosby Colapinto gets the call-up to his first-ever CT event, the 2019 Freshwater Pro.

18-year-old Crosby Colapinto has just received the WSL event wildcard to his first-ever World Tour event, the 2019 Freshwater Pro. This wildcard entry comes just a few months after Crosby took away his fourth consecutive National Title at the USA Championships, a record that will go down in USA Surfing history.

"When I got the news that I was given the wildcard to the Freshwater Pro I was jumping up and down," Crosby said. I called my brother and my parents and I booked a flight straight home. Now I'm at the wave pool on a practice day, and I'm psyching!

"I'm really looking forward to surfing my first-ever CT event, and being able to surf out at the wave ranch with my brother Griffin is even better. - Crosby

California born and Lower Trestles bred, Crosby has spent his youth surfing with some of the world’s best surfers, including his brother Griffin who is currently competing on the World Tour. He has learnt from some of the best, and it shows in his progressive style and the way he can clinically rip apart a wave.

The only World Tour event held in a wavepool, the wave at the Freshwater Pro is as close to perfect as they come, and offers up sections for airs, barrels and big turns. With a huge arena to showcase progression and creative combinations, Crosby will have the opportunity to show the world what his surfing is made of.

"I think the waves at the Freshwater Pro really suit my surfing," Crosby said. "But really, everyone surfs so well out there. It's a great contest and I can't wait."

Crosby Colapinto will compete against the world's best surfers at the Freshwater Pro, running from September 19 - 22. Tune in via the World Surf League or Fox Sports.
