At Rip Curl we are proud to have the world’s best surf team. Over the past 11 years we have won 11 World Titles – an unmatched record – and have supported some of the greatest of all time, from the beginning of their careers through to the tail end.

In today’s surfing world we are proud to say that we continue to foster young talent and spur forward those who have already made their claim. That is why, each year, we take the world’s best female surf team on a surf trip of a lifetime.

In 2020, the Rip Curl Women are coming together to surf their way through the Seven Mile Miracle, commonly known as the North Shore of Oahu. Bethany Hamilton, Brisa Hennessy, Alyssa Spencer, Leah Thompson, Leilani McGonagle, Melania Suarez, Molly Picklum and Rosy Hodge will descend on this stunning stretch of coastline and do their best to take over the lineup, from Off The Wall through to Pipeline, Sunset and Rocky Point.

Over the course of the next 10 days you’ll be seeing these women charge hard, explore and enjoy everything that Hawaii has to offer. Stay tuned, as we’ll be coming in with fresh updates right here, every day.

It’s been a big two days here at the Rip Curl House on the North Shore of Oahu!

It’s been a big two days here at the Rip Curl House on the North Shore of Oahu! Rosy Hodge, Brisa Hennessy, Alyssa Spencer, Leah Thompson, Leilani McGonagle, Melania Suarez, Molly Picklum, Ewe Wong and Erin Brooks have taken on the challenge of surfing every day, chasing the best conditions and trying to find gold on the sandy stretch they call the Seven Mile Miracle. Lucky for them, swell is on the horizon and has already begun to fill in.

The Rip Curl Women woke up this morning to see Off The Wall breaking at a solid six feet, and only two other surfers in the lineup. Without thinking twice, the team was out there, manoeuvring incoming swell and shifting sand over the infamous reef. The sun was shining, the women were catching waves and only a few lucky ladies copped beatings – one of whom happened to be Hawaiian local Ewe Wong, who turned 15 today. No better way to celebrate than a good old five-wave hold down.

Over the next week the forecast for swell holds strong, with solid waves on tap each day… so stay tuned as the Rip Curl Women take on the North Shore.

Broken Boards, Waimea Bay and Mason Ho.

Another day, another broken board, another new wave on the North Shore...

The North Shore is one of those places where you’ll always find waves… big, small and everywhere in between. The trick is though, you need a local to show you where to find those diamonds in the rough. Lucky for the Rip Curl Women, Hawaiian legend Mason Ho decided to swing by the house and let the girls in on a secret – where he was paddling out.

With a solid NNW swell pulsing through the Pacific, Mase scoured the Seven Mile Miracle to find the best winds and the biggest waves – Pinballs, found just on the inside of Waimea Bay on those larger NNW swells. The sun was shining, the bombs were breaking, and Mason showed the women just how much the North Shore can turn on in the winter.

Leah Thompson, who’s known to “go” on some of the biggest waves each session, was surfing next to Mason when solid set came in. Like a gentleman, Mason called her into it – turns out, however, it was one of the biggest closeout sets of the day. Leah popped up with a broken board and made her way into the shore – followed by Mase shortly after.

A day to remember on the North Shore for the Rip Curl Women. Good thing Leah brought five boards in her quiver, because there’s swell on the way and the women are ready!

Welcome to the tropical paradise of Hawaii, where the Rip Curl Women take on the very best of the North Shore of Oahu.

Welcome to the tropical paradise that is Hawaii… swaying palms, sunny skies, warm sand, blue water… and perfect waves. For the past few days, this is where the Rip Curl Women have found themselves – situated in one of the most iconic houses on one of the most wave-rich stretches of sand in the world. The Rip Curl House at Off The Wall, smack dab in the middle of Oahu’s North Shore.

The women are here with one goal – to take on everything that The North Shore throws their way. So far the Pacific Ocean has been a mixed bag, with changing swells and strong winds making it tricky to find those diamonds in the rough. But the women were up for the challenge, and between the protected corners of Freddyland through to the daunting and shallow break at Off The Wall, the ladies found gold.

With the help of fellow Rip Curl team rider Rosy Hodge, and local legend Rip Curl Hawaiian Team Manager Kekoa Bacalso, the ladies had a crack and dug deep on their first days of the trip.

In this episode of Rip Curl Women Take on Hawaii, you’ll get to meet the ladies and learn a bit about the surfers that make up the Rip Curl Women’s team. Stay tuned, because swell is on the way and we’ll be dropping a new episode very, very soon.
