Rip Curl Cup Padang Padang 2025 is About To Fire
It’s almost time. The countdown is on for one of surfing’s most iconic events – the 22nd annual Rip Curl Cup Padang Padang. Some of the world’s greatest tube maestros are already heading to Bali.
With one week left in the trials, anticipation is peaking. We’re still watching the swell closely to make sure it hits that magic mark when the wave turns into a freight train and the reef gets hungry. A solid-looking pulse is also brewing right around the start of the waiting period. Things could fire from day one.

The Opening Ceremony kicks it all off on August 3rd at 4:00 PM on the sand at Padang Padang Beach. Expect the full cultural show with a Kecak Dance performance and a live set by Landon McNamara to set the tone. The Opening Ceremony also marks the start of the official waiting period from August 4th to September 4th: a month to chase the best single day of barrels Bali can offer.
A few heavy hitters have already been confirmed, including defending champ Noa Deane, Tosh Tudor, and Pipe Master Moana Jones Wong. The rest of the prestigious list will be announced at the opening ceremony.
“Our goal is to put the best tube riders on one of the most perfect waves on the planet,” says Harrison Mann, Event Director. “You don’t get to see enough of these free surfers in a competitive spotlight, so we’re proud to run an event that breaks the mold and brings something different to the surf world.”
This year’s Rip Curl Padang Cup keeps the same epic format with two non-elimination heats for each surfer and their best two waves counting toward a spot in the final. It’s all about wave quality, tube-riding mastery, and giving each invitee the chance to go big.
Once the contest window opens, it’s on when it’s on. Keep your eyes peeled and your alerts pinging. When the swell hits and the call is made, it’s game time.
